Four Mile Post June 2010

In the past few months I’ve been reflecting on a couple of verses from the Gospel of John. In 1:16 & 17, the Scripture says, “From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (NIV). You might say that John and the other Apostles were so impressed with the fullness of the grace which Jesus exhibited that they singled it out as one of the most significant gifts to the new community – the Church. God has impressed on my heart lately that He wants us as a church to reflect His grace to a World steeped in new wave of legalism. This new legalism is not based on the Bible, but on human philosophy. As with the old legalism, this new variety has to be overcome with grace.
