Cancelling Children’s Activities Procedure
As a Children’s Ministry, we vow to provide activities for Biblical training and instruction, as well as fun, to a variety of children and their families. When it becomes necessary to cancel regularly scheduled activities due to weather, or excessive illness outbreaks in the community, there needs to be a consistent process that is followed in order to aid the overall communication and continuity of our ministry and that of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church as a whole.
When a teacher has a question as to whether there will be an activity, they should contact the director/leader above them, i.e. Cubbies teacher would contact AWANA director. That director/leader would contact the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. The Children’s Ministry Coordinator would then contact the Children’s Minister. The Children’s Minister will then either make a decision or confer with the Senior Pastor. Cancelling church services is a pastoral staff decision and must be made by them, either alone or in conference with each other. The only exceptions would be if the Children’s Ministry Coordinator is unavailable, the Children’s Minister can be contacted by the director or leader, or if the Children’s Minister is on vacation or otherwise unavailable, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator would then contact the Senior pastor.
At that point, the Children’s Minister would notify the Church Secretary and the Children’s Ministry Coordinator of the decision and they would then proceed with informing the appropriate parties.
Again, the purpose of this procedure is to aid in the process of communication within each branch of Children’s Ministry as well as the church itself.
