About Me
I have lived more than half of my life in va. I was born in the tiny town of Hillsboro, Kansas. I went to a Christian school for three years, then we moved and I've been home-schooled since. I remember doing tornado drills at school, and I remember hearing the tornado sirens going off at noon nearly every day.
The summer I was 8 we moved to Manassas VA and lived in a townhouse complex for almost 5 years. It took us awhile to find a good church, but once we found one it was great. It was a very hard to be uprooted from it and be planted in a church with some very different stands on some things. FMC is a great church, but it isn't the same after finding a "soul-mate" church.
I am now looking at two good Christian colleges, but I have no idea what I'm going to study.
So, yeah, that's my mini-history. I'm this weird mix of Mennonite Brethren-Baptist. I've got some stiff beliefs on nonresistance, the application of God's Word to the "now", remaining pure 'til marriage and making sure that I'm trusting God to tell me when "the one" comes along (which can be very hard). Not stressing about finding (or not finding) a man of God who holds the same beliefs as I do is VERY hard. Anyways, I've got my convictions. I think that others should live by the ones that the Bible teaches strongly, but "my faith isn't your faith", right?

I became a Christian when I was 5 years old, and I definitely am a stronger Christian now because of my parents. On my mother's side, I'm a sixth generation believer. This gives me advantages and disadvantages. I can go to my parents when I find something I don't understand, and I have been able to use them as a sounding board as I develop my own faith. But sometimes I have a hard time not speaking in Christianese. Even though I understand and believe what I'm saying, others may not. I know that my faith is all Jesus, and that I can't do anything without Him. My faith started a major growth spurt when I was 8 yrs old. I read through the entire Bible that year, and I joined our church's Bible quiz team the next year. That was fun, and it kept me in the Word and memorizing it along with the passages my parents assigned for school. I memorized Bible passages in school in Kansas, too. All that memorizing has grown me a lot. But I've been in a dry place for awhile, and I know why. I haven't been faithful about really spending time with God, even though every schoolday I'm in His Word. So, even with a strong Christian curriculum, it can be hard to keep my faith growing.
